Make your first stop in the main square of Eugénio Tavares and learn about the history of Morna, a Cape Verdean musical genre internationalised by Cesária Évora and considered a World Cultural Heritage Site. Take photos of empty colonial houses awaiting the return of the "Americans" who built them for their retirement.
Then pass through the pretty village of Cova Rodela and reach the village of Mato Grande. Visit the viewpoint and enjoy a breathtaking view over Nova Sintra towards Fogo Island.
Your walk continues to Mato, from where you'll see the Fontainhas mountain, the highest peak on the island. Then head to Vila do Cachaço and get the chance to see the local production of goat's cheese, whose tiny output is usually exported to Santiago Island.
Then head west of Brava and reach Lomba in Tantum, a fishing village where locals go when they want to buy fresh fish.
If the sea conditions allow, take a break and swim in the beautiful natural pools of Fajã D'Água. For lunch, enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the town and sample some local delicacies in a typical restaurant. The tour ends with a return to your accommodation.
