This is not a very popular route, but it’s worth the effort as it offers interesting landscapes. A mountain guide is recommended for this route, which is approximately 15 kilometers long and has a high degree of difficulty. On this route you will come across the town of chã das furnas, a small town located two kilometers from the town of sinagoga. When you reach the village, you’ll follow a trail up a mountain, which in turn encloses the village at a height of approximately 1,200 meters. Once you reach the top of the mountain, you’ll walk parallel to the mountain until you reach Pó seco. Along the way you’ll see some terraces where sweet potatoes are grown, and you’ll also come across endemic plants. Po seco is a landmark that marks the separation of the municipality of Paul from that of Ribeira Grande by a stick that is inserted into a cement pot on top of a mountain. It looks like a prize for those who reach it. To complement your hike, you’ll be able to see lots of birds and a panoramic view of the beautiful Paul valley, as well as the town of Ponta do Sol and the village of Lombo Branco. You walk along the tops of the mountains amidst greenery and many terraces, some abandoned and others worked, until you reach the town of Lombo Branco, which is a beautiful village. Here you can pick up a car to return to the hotel.
