This hike is ideal for individuals who appreciate volcanic landscapes. Those who elect to traverse it will get an excellent opportunity to witness the results of various eruptions over time, which have created fantastic formations of basalt rocks and deep canyons of unique beauty. The hike starts at Alto Mira, and goes through Forquinha, from where one can enjoy an impressive panorama of both Alto Mira and Ribeira das Patas. After this, the hike heads down to Ribeira das Patas, where hikers can glimpse the daily lives of the locals and the volcanic black sand that forms the earth.
