Explore the highlights of Santiago Island on a tour from Praia. Savour a typical breakfast with a local family, visit the Assomada Market, cross the Serra Malagueta and relax on Tarrafal beach.
You'll be picked up from your hotel in Praia and then set off for the interior of the island. Make your first stop at Mrs Luisa's house. There, you can try couscous (a traditional cake made from cornflour) and fidjós (fried plantains), the typical meal of Cape Verdean families.
Afterwards, continue on to the town of Assomada. Visit its famous market and admire the vibrant colours of the local fruit and vegetables. Head to the Serra Malagueta nature park and marvel at the incredible views from 1,000 metres above sea level.
Then discover Santiago's most beautiful beach, Tarrafal, known for its white sands and crystal-clear waters. Take a break for lunch (on your own) and then return along the east coast of the island. Enjoy photo stops at the majestic volcanic slopes of Calheta and the magnificent Valley of a Thousand Palm Trees in Santa Cruz. The tour ends with disembarkation at the hotel in Praia.
