Good things come in small packages

More than a business, Sodadetour is a passion that we want to share with you: a passion for walking and for big, open spaces! Ours is an independent agency run by passionate guides who know the world's mountains like the back of our hands. We design all our routes with the aim of sharing this sense of adventure with you. Our independence gives us the freedom to take care of you as and when we want!

The island is considered one of the most mountainous in Cape Verde. Its mountains are composed of basalt and many of its volcanoes are young, especially its calderas. Since 1999, volcanologists have observed a continuous increase in the temperature of the sea water in the Ponta do Sol area, which may indicate the risk of a new eruption in the area.

Basically made up of several stratovolcanoes and therefore extremely mountainous, this island has a very diverse climate and various microclimates due to its deep ravines. The average annual temperature on the coast is around 23 °C, dropping to between 11 and 15 °C in the higher areas. There can be a remarkably cold climate inland, with a warmer rainy season starting in July and ending in December-January, with a cooler dry season starting in December-January and ending in June. With several hiking trails, the island of Santo Antão is a true paradise for trekking enthusiasts.

The Cape Verde Islands: an undiscovered paradise for hikers

Cape Verde is a paradise for hikers. Especially the five mountainous islands of Santo Antão, São Nicolau, Santiago, Fogo and Brava are ideal for hiking holidays.

In the mountains of these islands there are old mule tracks, often paved, which served for all transport in the past when there were no roads. Along these connecting paths, which are still widely used in everyday life and are constantly being repaired and renewed, there are countless fantastic hiking opportunities. Again and again you pass through remote villages and everywhere you are greeted by the country’s friendly people.

The year-round summer climate, with only a few rainy days and pleasant temperatures, makes hiking a real pleasure.

There is a good choice of Individual Walking Tours for those who prefer to travel individually, without a group.
