This trail begins on a dirt track, descending to a small village called Matinho, and then follows a vacant road until it begins to descend the hillside towards the village of Caibros. This trail shows visitors the contrast between one part of the island and the other. As you descend towards the Ribeira Grande valley, you can see the immense green valley, while behind you lies a deserted and dry part of the island. As we walk, you'll discover small villages where you can taste cheeses, liqueurs and more. At the starting point of the walk, there is minimal human settlement. The population is mainly involved in cattle breeding, rainfed agriculture and cheese production and a dense settlement where the main activity is irrigated agriculture.
