Monte Gordo is a mountain massif located in the western part of the island of São Nicolau. It comprises the former state forest perimeter, shrub areas, large streams and some cliffs where the presence of endemism is significant. The area contains a large number of plants endemic to the island of São Nicolau, some of which are on Cape Verde’s red list.
