Located in the center of the island, the natural park covers the area of the Bordeira volcano and the Monte velha forest perimeter. It is the largest protected area in Cape Verde and covers the three municipalities (Santa Catarina, São Felipe and Mosteiros) and brings together a representative sample of the archipelago’s fauna and flora.
Due to its characteristics, it attracts scholars such as geologists, volcanologists and biologists from all over the world.
